FAQ - Radio sites for your network
Who are the customers of Deutsche Funkturm?
The customers of Deutsche Funkturm come from different areas: mobile communications, radio relays and broadcast services, trunking and data communication as well as radio for authorities.
What does it cost to rent a radio site?
The rent depends on the type of use. The main pricing factors include the size of the antenna and the height at which the antenna is mounted. This is supplemented by a rent for the space to accommodate the required technology and infrastructural services. We will be glad to give you an individual consultation. Contact us.
What types of radio sites are there?
This portfolio includes radio towers, masts, and rooftop sites along with a few special structures, including small cells.
The towers also include a few of the large TV towers, such as Germany’s tallest antenna carrier, the Berlin TV Tower on Alexanderplatz.
Radio masts are steel-grid or spun-concrete masts that are built specifically for the installation of radio antennas and transmitting stations. At 191 meters, Germany’s tallest free-standing steel-grid masts built for radio purposes is in Leipzig.
A rooftop site refers to a radio site constructed on a rented roof area, for example on single- or multi-family houses, office buildings or special structures. The transmitting station consists of an antenna carrier to attach antennas and the technical unit.
Additionally, small cells are also attached to building walls or city installations, such as street lamps, traffic lights, or bus stops. Special installations can also be placed on wind turbines, electrical poles, silos, and smokestacks.
Does Deutsche Funkturm also operate radio networks?
Deutsche Funkturm does not operate its own radio networks. As a partner of all radio network operators in Germany, we instead provide passive and active infrastructure for all wireless transmission processes.
Is it possible to share the use of a Deutsche Funkturm site?
Our sites are available to all radio network operators. However, the technical and permit-related requirements, such as structure and operating permission need to be considered for every radio application.
Does Deutsche Funkturm also offer solutions for small cells or DAS (distributed antenna systems)?
Deutsche Funkturm grew from a passive infrastructure service provider to a full-service provider. This means that we also offer access to small cells and DAS distributed antenna systems.
