Tower for Tolerance: Europaturm Illuminated in Rainbow Colors for CSD

  • Europaturm shines as a symbol of tolerance and diversity
  • Illumination in light of this year’s CSD demonstration in Frankfurt

Frankfurt, July 17, 2025: On the evening of July 19, Frankfurt’s Europaturm will be illuminated in rainbow colors as a symbol of love, diversity, and tolerance. To mark this year’s Christopher Street Day (CSD) demonstration in Frankfurt, Deutsche Funkturm, the tower’s owner, is lighting the Europaturm in cooperation with the City of Frankfurt.

As the tallest landmark in Frankfurt and the second-highest telecommunications tower in Germany, the Europaturm will shine in rainbow colors on the evening of the CSD demonstration. Starting at a height of 250 meters, the tower’s antenna platforms will be lit from dusk until the early hours of the following morning.

„With the illumination of the Europaturm, we are sending a strong message of openness and social cohesion,” emphasized Bruno Jacobfeuerborn, CEO of DFMG Deutsche Funkturm GmbH. „As a defining symbol of Frankfurt, our tower stands for the visibility of marginalized communities and values such as respect, tolerance, and equality.”

“In times when the rights of queer people are being questioned and their spaces restricted – as recently seen in Budapest – visible signs of solidarity are more important than ever. I am therefore very grateful to DFMG Deutsche Funkturm GmbH for illuminating the Europaturm in honor of CSD,” said Deputy Mayor and Head of Diversity, Dr. Nargess Eskandari-Grünberg. “Frankfurt stands firmly with the queer community – visibly, consistently, and with conviction. That’s why we’ve organized Pride Month in Frankfurt for the third time, with the CSD as its highlight.”

The illumination is a joint initiative of Deutsche Funkturm and the City of Frankfurt. Together, they aim to express their solidarity with all demonstrators on this important day and to make a clear statement in support of the values upheld by CSD – diversity, acceptance, self-determination, and respectful coexistence for all.
