Berlin TV tower shines in Ukraine’s national colours

Berlin, 12 June 2024: As part of the Ukraine Recovery Conference, the Berlin TV tower lights up as a sign of solidarity with the people affected by the war. The tower will be illuminated in blue and yellow from 10 pm to midnight on the nights of 11 and 12 June. The Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and the Federal Foreign Office (AA), as organizers of the conference, along with Deutsche Funkturm, the owner of the TV tower, are behind the illumination.

‘The Ukraine Recovery Conference is all about the important goal of rebuilding the Ukraine. Our TV tower is a reminder of the fate of the people suffering from the terrible war and sends a signal of solidarity that can be seen from afar,’ explains Bruno Jacobfeuerborn, Managing Director of DFMG Deutsche Funkturm GmbH.

The Berlin television tower was built between 1965 and 1969. When it was completed in 1969, it was the second tallest television tower in the world and is still one of Germany's most popular sights today.
